Butterflies Are Free Program

Providing Comfort, Dignity, and Compassionate Care
at the End of Life

Every life deserves to be honored with dignity, compassion, and peace—especially in its final chapter.  The Butterflies Are Free Program ensures seniors nearing the end of life receive comfort-focused care that supports both the individual and their family.

Administered through Avir in Dripping Springs and supported by Friends Foundation, this program:

  • Provides end of life reading materials for the families of terminally ill patients.

  • Provides a butterfly night light in the rooms of terminally ill patients in Avir Nursing Center. The soft light is in the room at all times as a kind reminder to staff and a comfort to patients and family members.

End-of-life care is about more than medical treatment—it’s about preserving dignity, creating peace, and ensuring no one faces this stage of life alone.
