Alex Dormont

Alex Dormont brings deep local roots, a passion for community, and a lifelong love of music to The Friends Foundation board. A longtime Dripping Springs resident, Alex joined the board because of its strong sense of purpose and the people behind it—neighbors working together to make a meaningful impact.

With decades of experience as a musician and event organizer, Alex offers a unique ability to connect with others and bring people together. His background includes performing as a fiddler in multiple bands, including Ace in the Hole, and later founding the Hot Texas Swing Band, where he writes songs, plays bass, and sings. His experience organizing both large and small events adds valuable insight to the Foundation’s community outreach efforts.

Alex moved to Texas in 1977 after college to pursue music and has been part of the Dripping Springs community ever since. He and his wife, Grace, built their home locally in the 1980s and raised their two children there. Today, they enjoy time with their two grandchildren and remain deeply connected to the community they’ve helped shape over the years.

He is passionate about ensuring local residents understand the vital role The Friends Foundation plays in supporting seniors. From meals and medical alert programs to financial assistance and beyond, Alex is committed to helping expand awareness so more seniors can maintain independence and remain in their homes longer.
